Colin is a multi-faceted composer who scores music for film, as well as original works. His training includes his undergraduate work at Kean University, as well as his graduate work in Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music.
He has a unique musical background, featuring an eclectic mix of experiences. Born into a Scottish family, he quickly learned Scottish pipe band drumming from his father. His Celtic music roots have been a part of his musical identity his entire life.
As he moved throughout his schooling and undergrad, he toured with the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, where he performed in college and NFL stadiums across North America. Upon finishing his undergrad, Colin toured with reggae band Echo Movement across North America and recorded 3 studio albums, broadening his musical background.
Throughout a 20 year period, Colin was a composer and arranger for scholastic and collegiate ensembles such as percussion ensembles, wind ensembles, orchestras and marching bands. He wrote hundreds of productions for large instrumental ensembles in every genre of music imaginable.
A bit of fate intervened to set Colin on a new path. In 2015, actress Janina Gavankar came to a group that Colin composed for: the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps. She sought to do a drum corps style cover of the Martin Garrix and Usher song “Don’t Look Down”. Colin was tapped for the job, and wrote the entire arrangement in one day. Following that were 3 recording sessions and a music video shoot in which Colin served as music director and co-choreographer with Janina. The entire music video was written, recorded and shot within 4 weeks.
Shortly after, Gavankar tapped Colin again. This time, she was performing with Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson at Carnegie Hall, and wanted an arrangement of Diamonds and Pearls, by Prince. After arranging the piece for vibraphone and drum set, Gavankar and Questlove invited Colin to perform with them at the concert.
After the experiences with Gavankar and Questlove, Colin knew it was time to take his composing experience in a new direction. This led him to Berklee College of Music where he is nearing completion of his MM in Film Scoring. He caught on quick at Berklee, which led to a very early break for scoring his first full length feature film.
Colin was contacted by director Khoa Le in December 2021 to score the upcoming biopic “Bezos”, which chronicles the humble beginnings of Amazon and Jeff Bezos. With a short timeline of 4 weeks, Colin scored the entire film with a unique electronic score, drawing on sounds of early 90’s computers and internet. Bezos released in January of 2023 on Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Google Play.
Over the summer of 2023, Colin composed the original score to the gripping sci-fi narrative podcast “Echoes”. Written by Holly Payne-Strange and Heidi C. Bordogna, the cast featured numerous talents such as Adam Pascal (RENT, Aida, Something Rotten), John O’Hurley (Seinfeld), Lee Shorten (The Man in the High Castle), and comedian Brent Ernst.
Colin released the album for Echoes in May 7th, 2024. The album features 34 tracks from the production, spanning multiple styles of music: orchestral, electronic, experimental, jazz, New Orleans music, indie rock, etc.
In December of 2024, Colin composed the original score for the newly released Christmas film, Christmas Cowboy. Written by, and starring Eliana Ghen, the film features an orchestral score the invokes Christmas, family, drama, nostaglia and comedic moments. This was Colin’s 2nd feature film working with director Khoa Le.
